Reveal the secret.

SHOCK. HORROR.

Kick you out.  Disown you!

What are the people going to say?

Six years later.

Relationship is slowing building.

A phone call.

A visit or two.

They observe your new mannersims.

Respect, they call it.

Hmm, well, he treats me better than his brothers.

Two more years go by.

Your parents are aging.

Your the one caring for their every need.

Not your brother or sisters.

They notice.

They appreciate it.

Finally, the conversation you’ve been waiting for.

You start to open up the subject of God.

You’re worried for their souls.

Always have been.

Only when the time is right.

You ask them, mama, baba,

Have you thought of what happens after we die?

Now what?

They get uncomfortable, but the listen.

After all, they respect you now.

A new kind of respect, matured, admiration.

They love you.

Just like old times, except better.
