Thank you for the well-written article. It seems those "progressive" Muslims are progressing alright... straight into their doom. Islam is not a religion that changes by time or place. One cannot believe that the Qur'an was revealed by God and that Muhammad (SAWS) is truly the messenger of God, yet believe at the same time that Shariah must undergo a "progressive" change. Allah says in Surat An-Nisa' (Aya 65) what has been interpretted in English as meaning: "But no, by thy Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against thy decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction." Allah also says in Surat Aal Imran (Aya 31) what has been interpretted in English as meaning: "Say: "If ye do love Allah, follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins; for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." So to claim that you're a Muslim then demand a "progressive" change in Islam is sheer hyporcisy. May Allah guide us all and help us to correct our practices and our understanding of the Deen.
