About Islam
Islam is not about grand mosques, exotic bazaars, veiled women in dark clothes, or men in long clothes, and turbans – although none of these mental pictures is necessarily incorrect.
The word ‘Islam’ means ‘Submission’ (to God) and its message is much broader and more universal than any ethnic or cultural affiliations: There is no object worthy of worship except the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth – the One true God.
We believe in Him and what has been sent down to us (The Noble Qur’an) and what had been sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and his 12 sons, as well as what had been given to Moses and what had been revealed to Jesus and all previous prophets of our Lord*.
We believe that mankind is lost without divine guidance and that God knows us best and, thus, He knows what’s best for us. Therefore, he is to be worshipped and obeyed on His own terms, not ours.
